Good points, Jay, and, in fact, those are already on my list of future topics. Here's a preview: I agree with you about the TP roll, but don't see a clear moral imperative for either approach. The toilet seat debate, however, is currently being subjected to a rigorous statistical analysis, and I anticipate the results will surprise quite a few people. Stay tuned!

Thanks Ed, however you didn't touch on a few much needed clarifications. The mighty toilet seat. Does it get left up after the man uses it, and if it is to be left up, both seats in preparation for the next use (by a male), or anticipate the ladies needs and leave the top up, while the seat is lowered for her convenience? And how is the toilet paper roll to be installed on the roller, rolling from the top, or bottom. I personally like it rolling from off the top, when you give it a good quick tug, you get 20-30 squares folding neatly around your lap like a soft blanket ready to be your wooby. I miss my wooby. :)

Absolutely correct, Dave. Thanks for pointing that out. As an American, I'm accustomed to thinking of the soccer pitch in terms of yards, and also of being sloppy with metric conversions. So for me, 12 yards = 12 meters when having a casual discussion about soccer. I'll update my glossary with the correct metric measurements right away!

One small error to point out ... The penalty spot is 11 meters from the goal line (which equals roughly 12.03 yards).

I agree, Wayne, that we can't place too much importance on how the teams perform in their tune-up matches: squads are still being decided, stars are often being rested, and most importantly, nobody wants to get hurt before the finals. Germany's loss of Michael Ballack will almost certainly encourage other German stars to step up their game and take a more prominent role. I think we'll see a few German goals.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Australia looked a little more promising against the USA but that game was far too open in the second half to compare it to a World Cup opening group match.

Having said that I feel the Germans will have far too much in attack to come away goalless and in my opinion will only need one goal which surely they can get with all their attacking options.
